Friday links
Sun shining through for a bit yesterday before Storm Benjamin came hard.
Somehow another Friday has arrived. October has felt like a very long month. September went by in a snap, but we still have a whole week of October left! Time is so odd.
This week’s collection is small as the week was busy and full again.
THINGS I BOOKMARKED
The Pastor Who Rescues People From Japan’s “Suicide Cliff” – Beautiful article about a faithful pastor in Shirahama, Japan.
Six books to read when you're in a "You've Got Mail" frame of mind – I love this post and list of books. I’ve read a couple of them but definitely keeping the others on a list for future inclinations.
Good Time To Find Religion – Really great article from Charlie Peacock about the palpable trend of people turning back to religion to fulfill the inner longing. “I agree with Kirsten’s title in principle, the time is right. But finding religion is easy. It’s everywhere. Locating sustainable healthy religion in belief and practice can be difficult. Discerning and avoiding the specious forms of religion eager to hijack your curiosity and longing is a tall order for anyone—especially those with little experience or religious trauma.”
THINGS I LISTENED TO
Pale, Through the Window by Ruston Kelly – Really loving this new album. I’ve listened to it countless times this week and keep finding a new favorite. “Twisted Root” and “Still” are in the top for me.
Midnight Of A Good Culture by Sho Baraka – I haven’t quite decided how I feel about this album. I really enjoy listening to it, but it is quite jarring at times too. Definitely worth a listen and I keep coming back to certain songs. Heads up that two of the songs are explicit for a word or two. I hadn’t noticed this initially and they took me by surprise.
At least one of the girls is taking on my strong use of color in her wardrobe.
THINGS I MADE
Pumpkins! I’m in major printing mode for my work for the Winter Market coming in a month, so the only physical thing I made this week was these delightful pumpkins with the toddler group. Love them!
THINGS I FOUND
A picture perfect, autumnal house moment in Weobley
Another delightful house in Weobley that I caught without cars in front!
The hedgehog was back! And the girls and I literally laid on the grass as close as we could to watch it traipse across the garden.
A gorgeous apple tree peeking over the wall at the chiropractor.
Roasted Cashews at the market.
There’s all my collected nonsense from the week. Looking forward to the weekend! We made it to half-term break without the girls missing a day. I think that’s a record for us illness-wise. Hope the last week of October treats you well. 💚
